We are the only organization in the world focused on the human cost of animal experimentation and the uniquely intimate, often painful bond between lab workers and the animals they try to care for.
Founded by former lab workers who experienced firsthand the comfort of confiding in each other about their shared background, Justify is a groundbreaking organization that provides a safe and supportive space for those grappling with the emotional burden of animal research, empowering them to share their experiences and advocate for change.
Many lab workers tell Justify they’re afraid to speak up because:
- They fear retaliation or being labeled “anti-science” or “animal rights extremists”
- They worry about losing their job, their references, or their ability to build a career... even after leaving the industry
- Some depend on the position for visa status
- Others are required to work with animals to complete a degree they’ve invested years into even if they don’t want to do animal research
Most entered these environments wholly unprepared and uninformed about the psychological impacts this work can have and are ultimately unsure who they can safely turn to for support.
Justify exists to fill this need. By making space for lab workers to speak openly and in community, and process emotional harm like moral injury, we are moving science toward animal-free, human-relevant methods.
